DEN NYOIRIN KANNON / Standard
Buddhist Statues figure, by Isumu

Nara  Heian period (8-9th century)
This statue at the Hobodai-in Gantoku Temple is said to depict Nyoirin Kannon ( ‘Den’means ‘alleged ), but this has yet to be verified. Under its feet are the Four Heavenly Kings (Shitenn?), the watchers of the four ordinal directions, uniquely composed to hold up the Cint?ma?icakra.
