About the Nikko Toshogu shrine Yomei-mon
Yomei-mon is a superb building of Nikko Toshogu shrine which was rebuilt from 1634 to 1636 by the command of Tokugawa Iemitsu.
Designated as a National Treasure of Japan in June 1951, UNESCO World Cultural Heritage was registered in December 1999.
It is decorated with fine decorations and sculptures and is famous as a gate built with the best craft decoration technology at the time.
